Does art help children in core subjects like Maths and Science? Art is related to our visual experiences. Mental imagery is an essential part of the thinking process. Art makes these images clearer and more concrete. The experiential aspect of art helps one go deeper into the other elements of life. Dramatics, as a form of art, gave a befitting tool to the Department of Science in AVS. From Class I to X, the students used some form of the art form to get a clearer understanding of the concepts of Science.
The students of Class III to VII mesmerised the audience with their soulful recital and profound explanations of the couplets of Kabir and Raheem today. The pearls of age old wisdom threaded in the poetry of the great maestros enlightened the audience as well as the participants.
Budding artists of Angels Valley received abundant praises for their talents and creativity as they put their work on display in the form of an Art Exhibition. Using different mediums and techniques, our gifted students proved yet again how creative children can get with the right guidance and a conducive environment. The pottery workshop was another fruitful event that ignited participants’ interest in handicrafts along with creating awareness about eco friendly products.The workshop was highly appreciated by the parents who themselves got to experience the process of pot making. The parents also teamed up with their children to participate in a special drawing competition on the theme ‘Education is every child’s right ‘.
The onset of propitious October propelled the students of Angels Valley School and they embarked on a creative voyage. On the sidelines of the PTM, the school organized ‘Avishkaar, The Educarnival as a befitting platform for showcasing multiple talents. As part of the event, the students put up some brilliant dance, musical and dramatic performances to the awe and admiration of the audience. The dramatic presentations on Nayi Taleem, the Gandhian philosophy of education and the significance of the Salt March were the highlights of the stage programme. The school choir’s mesmerising rendition of Gandhi’s favourite hymns and the captivating dance performances won accolades from everyone. The event was another step in the direction of achieving the goal of ‘Art Integration Towards Experiential Learning’ as envisaged by the NEP 2020.
Angels Valley School celebrated the eve of Gandhi Jayanti in a special assembly to pay homage to the Father of our Nation. The assembly started with the chanting of the bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghav’. Students delivered speeches on the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. A short play named ‘Charkha’ was staged by the students of Class IX which showed how Gandhiji initiated the Swadeshi Movement by encouraging the Indians to spin their own cloth.The Charkha became a symbol of self sufficiency and freedom. The play also highlighted how the National Education Policy 2020 brings in a new hope that Gandhiji’s philosophy about the Nayi Taleem schools could be fulfilled if the policy is implemented with the same intent with which it has been drafted. Students also participated enthusiastically in a quiz on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
